The prime minister took his electoral campaign to Mosta this morning, meeting shoppers and stall owners at Mosta market.
Dr Gonzi said that Labour's energy plan would derail Malta's momentum to achieve a balanced balance by 2015. He said that the government had managed to narrow the deficit every year for the past four years, a fact widely praised by the EU. But Labour's energy plans were so amateurish that, if implemented, they would create a hole in the country's finances.
The electorate had already given Labour the chance, in 1996, to remove VAT, and everyone knew how this move was disastrous to the financial situation. The electorate should not allow Labour to make a mess of the country's finances once again.
Dr Gonzi was accompanied by, among others, PN deputy leader Simon Busuttil.
