Wow there is so many things, I love these chimes.
In Germany our traditional wooden pyramids would be similar to these angel chimes. These usually do not ring bells though. But the old fashion ones with various levels would be presented to people at whatever age and then new tiny wonderful wooden figures (e.g. miners, forest or biblical scenes) would be given as gifts every christmas these get inherited of course as well. I love these.
Other family traditions I loved: the advent calenders I made with my mom, which she then filled with little toys or a candy every night for me to find the following morning between 1st and 24th of December. I loved my fun advents books, which had a new adventure to be read every night.
Baking gingerbread and listening to the same xmas tape everytime;b with my parents...and then finding/ climbing up to and opening the well hidden results BEFORE they were offered at the Advent sunday tea (when eachtime one more of the 4 candles on the wreath made of fresh fir decorated with cones and (glued) berries or fruit from our garden and cinnamon sticks + some more cute decorations.
Then there was Nikolaus, when we polished our shoes and hoped for candy if we were good kids instead of a green rod (for birching the bad kids, don't know anyone other than my mum, who apparently once was given a rod;b).
Christmas markets of course, as little ones we loved the rides and all the candy, now I scive for presents (wooden figures for pyramids;b) and will have a few mulled wines or other hot beverages:)
Choosing the tree with the forester. My mum banned everyone else from decorating, as that is her thing. On Christmas eve, she would again ban everyone from the good (living) room to arrange the colourful plates for everyone (with lots of candy, chocolates, little schnpse (for the grown ups)a chocolate Santa for everyone.
The big food preparing for Christmas day and my dads Birthday on Boxing day would be going on so on christmas eve there would just be potato salad and frankfurters before we would move into the good room and have "Feuerzangenbowle" (children's punch for the little ones) and have "Bescherung", someone being dressed as Santa will handout the gifts after poems or songs have been presented by everyone and he found everyone to have been good;b. Usually until bed time there is lots of play and trialling by the little ones or a kids movie, later we usually go on to the "Feuerzangenbowle" movie from the 40s.
Usually Christmas day will be spend home, with my mum finish roasting the goose and that will be the main christmas feast.
I don't think too much will ever change on this, but will look out for the angel chimes now:), thanks.xxxg
